Topic of today (& the foreseeable future):
PHOTOGRAMMETRY
The subject is so hot, if you work in a dental office or dental lab, you have been part of the conversation. Everybody seems to have a strong opinion about it.
But don’t lose sleep or friends over it.
The good news is that there is a fitting workflow for every practice and practitioner.
Photogrammetry is, no doubt, a great tool in the toolbox of a dentist that produces high volume implant supported “All-On-X” cases. So splurging on a $20,000-40,000 scanner is justifiable.
In addition, you have to learn and train your staff on how to use the scanner. Then, you have to find and partner with a lab that is also able to receive that data and use the information to produce the prostheses.
So while you are thinking about it, running numbers and scenarios, I want to tell you:
There are options! Great options in fact. Better yet, most likely you already have the most important piece of equipment: the intra oral scanner. And with the right peripheral system (GRAMMETRY), you can create a “semi-digital” workflow that is fast, easy and accurate.
But wait, I have more good news: it is at a fraction of the cost.
No matter which way you choose to go, if you follow protocol and best practices (there is still the human factor), you’ll improve chairside efficiency, elevate patient experience, and you will see a predictable and precise restorative result every time.
